Health Benefits: Exploring The Health Benefits Of Blueberries (RichinFoods)

We will be exploring the rich health benefits locked in the blueberries fruit today. The health benefits of blueberries are amazing.

Uses of Blueberries
Blueberries are available fresh or are processed as puree, infused or dried berries, juice or individually quick frozen fruit. Infused or dried berries may be used further in a wide variety of products, like jams, jellies, muffins, pies, cereals, snack foods and others.

Blueberry wine is made up of skin and flesh of the berries, which are first fermented & then matured. Blueberry jam is prepared out of blueberries, water, fruit pectin and sugar.

Health Benefits of Blueberries
In this section, we will discuss various health benefits of eating blueberries:
• Since blueberries are high in anti-oxidant content (like anthocyanin, copper, vitamins – B complex, C, E, A, zinc, selenium, iron) they promote immunity and prevent various infections in the body. When immune system becomes strong, you will not catch bacterial and viral communicable diseases such as pox, fever, cold, etc.
• Some studies suggest that this fruit may help in reducing belly fat and likely risks of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases.

• The building up of bacteria (such as b-coli) along urinary tract’s inner walls is responsible for causing burning sensation and inflammation during urination. However, blueberries can help in inhibiting the growth of such bacteria, completely washing it off and preventing the problems.

• The extract of blueberries is rich in compounds named anthocyanosides, which helps in slowing down visual loss. This fruit can delay or prevent age-related eye problems such as myopia, cataract, macular degeneration, hypermetropia and dryness.

• Micro nutrients present in blueberries help in healing or preventing neurotic disorders by preventing death / degeneration of brain cells and neurons. These berries can also assist in curing some serious disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. They heal damaged neuron tissues and brain cells and keep one’s memory sharp for a longer time.

• The high content of fiber in blueberries has the capability to dissolve bad cholesterol in the body. As a result, it cures many heart problems and strengthens cardiac muscles. Fiber also helps in keeping away constipation and improves the process of digestion. 1 or 2 pieces of berries will not do; you will have to consume a handful of them.

WATCH FOR THE SIGNS BY PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. James 2:18

Read:
James 2:14-17

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? James 2:14

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, James 2:15

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? James 2:16

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. James 2:17
Open Heavens Devotional Message
Elijah in 1 Kings 18:41-44 brought an end to a situation of famine that had plagued the land for three and a half years. We can learn from the process he went through in order to bring about the manifestation of change in this situation of drought. In addition to hearing God, declaring what He had said and intense prayer, the man of God also added some other action. He asked his servant to keep going back to check the skyline for signs of rain. James 2:14-17 says the faith that fails to be backed up by works is a dead faith.

One lesson here underscores the need to be spiritually alert while praying. Why? If you watch and pray and you are spiritually sensitive, you will see the signs in the spiritual skyline that will tell you that your prayer has been answered. Sometimes, such signs may appear quite insignificant or almost unnoticeable, yet, if you are sensitive enough, it will not pass you by. When you watch and pray, you will not pray blind prayers any more. When you pray, do you watch out for signs of answer to your prayer?

On the other hand, there is need for works to give life to your faith. Hebrews 11:6 says God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Do you seek Him diligently? Yes the tide is turning for your good but you’ve got to act and go beyond prayer. If you need a job, you need to write and forward your applications to organisations and follow them up, asking whether they received your applications, the time for tests and interviews etc.

As a student, if you want to come out in flying colours, you must study. In 1964, my professor told me you have to go over a given text 10 times if you truly want it to stick in your memory. If you want to reach the top, acquire a skill. Whatever you are doing, be very good at it. If you are a tailor, carpenter or fisherman, be the best in that field. God is looking for diligent, hardworking and skilled people that He will prosper. One of my friends introduced his brother to me as a tailor who just qualified and requested that I patronise him. I gave him some material to sew a pair of trousers and he sewed something else. I told my friend that his brother is a barber and not a tailor. Be diligent from today!

Bible In One Year:
John 1-3

Some signs may be a flash of less than a minute, ask God for grace not to lose divine messages.

What Kind Of Flight? – RCCG Open Heavens Devotional Monday 10th September 2013
WHAT KIND OF FLIGHT? BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4

Read:
Isaiah 46:3-4

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: Isaiah 46:3

And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4

Open Heavens Devotional Message
Every genuinely converted believer in Christ is raised up ad set up to sit in Christ Jesus in heavenly places. For such people, Colossians 3:1-4 should be their watchword. Since they are seated in heavenly places in Christ, they should have their eyes set on things that are above, they should also love and desire things that are heavenly. One reason a lot of Christians are not experiencing motion by flying and a reason why some others crash while flying is that they are still looking at the things of the earth, instead of heavenly things.

Looking at flying from a spiritual perspective, there are at least two ways to fly: with your own energy and with God’s energy. When birds fly, they usually spend their energy; but a man who travels by an aeroplane flies without any effort. He does not sweat, he eats and drinks, watches video and even has the luxury of using the lavatory while flying. He may strike a business deal with someone or he may decide to sleep, all while still flying. It is not enough to decide to fly; you must equally determine how you want to fly. In Exodus 19:3-4, when God was bringing the children of Israel out of bondage, He carried them on eagles’ wings. None of their individual or collective effort could free them all these years, but when God intervened, He delivered them from bondage and placed them where the enemy could no longer touch them.

Moreover, when a bird is flying, if it has any item to take to its destination, it would have to carry with its beak. This is a form of load which could also act as a drag on the bird while in flight. It is not easy to fly and at the same time carry a form of load. If such load is heavy, it will retard the speed of flight of the bird. However, if you are flying in aeroplane and you have any luggage, the aeroplane will carry both you and your luggage. Isaiah 53:4-5 says that God is not only able to carry you, but also can carry your burdens. What are your cares today? What are the things causing worry in your heart? Lay them at His feet by prayer and leave them there. After telling the Lord, like Hannah, stop worrying about them from that moment.

Bible In One Year:
2 Samuel 22-24

Action Point
Cast your cares and burdens upon the Lord in prayers and watch Him bare you up on eagles’ wings.

Open Heavens Devotional Message
Midwives are not only an important set of people but also a powerful group. In Exodus 1 : 15-16, we see that they have the power to kill or keep alive, and Pharaoh instructed them to use that power against newborn male Hebrew children. Midwives can kill or spare a new born baby by their action or inaction. At the point of a woman’s delivery, when she is about to push out the new baby, she is between earth and eternity. Many women never survive their deliveries as they go from childbirth into eternity. Usually, at that moment of delivery, a woman may not have known the sex of her baby, or whether the baby is dead or alive. It is what the midwives finally presents to her that she accepts as the fruit of her labour. Some midwives have used this power to play pranks, sell or exchange babies etc. If you have done so before, repent with all your heart asking for God’s forgiveness and go and restitute to those you have defrauded.

Do you know that these midwives can perpetrate a lot of atrocities? While reading this passage in Exodus 1, it suddenly dawned on me that it is possible that a good number of children said to be stillborn were actually murdered by the midwives. I have seen babies that were born with a dislocated hand because the midwife pulled the baby a little too hard. In the same vein, you are a divine midwife as a saved worker or minister of God.

You can kill a new convert ever before he or she finds his or her feet, through your words or actions. This power at your disposal must be used to grow and establish converts in the faith of Jesus Christ. By your actions, you can help God to deliver babies into God’s Kingdom and by your actions, you can cause the newly saved to backslide. But for the grace of God, I would have gone back to the world because of the negative actions of some so called believers. Where do you stand today? Are you birthing or killing babies? How are you living your Christian life today?

Bible In One Year:
2 Samuel 19-21

Key Point
Some spiritual midwives help to take delivery of some souls and later kill them. Are you one of them?

Free From Harm – RCCG Open Heavens of Sunday 8th September 2013
FREE FROM HARM BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. Acts 28:5

Read:
Acts 28:1-6

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. Acts 28:1

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. Acts 28:2

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. Acts 28:3

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. Acts 28:4

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. Acts 28:5

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. Acts 28:6

Open Heavens Devotional Message
While some servants of God are becoming cold, a few others are remaining hot, steaming hot. May you be hot for God! Sometime ago, there was this particular physician who became a missionary. Where he went to preach the Gospel soon experienced a plague which killed people like flies. Through the plague, germs were transferred to others and they too soon became victims. The doctor was busy treating the victims of the plague but he did not die. This amazed some scientists who decided to carry out a test. They took the saliva of one of the plague victims full of deadly germs and placed it on the hand of this physician, and watched the reaction under a microscope as instructed by the doctor. Then they saw that a few second after the germ landed on his skin, they died. That is an example of a firebrand!

Many of us are not what we ought to be because we have failed to carry the divine fire we were designed to carry. Some time in 1977, we went to Ilorin (Nigeria) for a Redeemer’s Congress. There was scarcity of pipe-borne water at that time. The brethren went to a river in the town and fetched me a bucket of water which was green in colour as that was the best they could find. Then they brought a disinfectant to apply to the water. As I opened it, I heard God saying, “My son, which is more powerful – my blood or the disinfectant?” I replied, “Your blood”. So He asked me to put back the disinfectant and cover the water with His blood because he would send me to a location with water challenges and there would be no disinfectant to apply. Beloved, germs are supposed to die when they come in contact with you but what is the situation today? Is your body harbouring sicknesses? Are germs developing inside your body that was created to destroy them? If there is one thing you need now, it is the fire of the Most High God. Ask for it until you truly become a firebrand like Paul that no snake bite could harm.

Bible In One Year:
2 Samuel 16-18

Key Point
According to Mark 16:18, believers are free from harm, but this does not include situations where somebody becomes foolish or presumptuous by tempting God.

DESIRE DRIVE TEMPTATIONS BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
James 1:14

Read:
James 1:13-15

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: James 1:13

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. James 1:14

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:15

Open Heavens Devotional Message
To overcome the devil you must first overcome yourself – your flesh and its desires. Most times, what we like is what the devil uses to ensnare us.

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."
James 1:14

Unknowingly or out of carelessness, a lot of believers over indulge their flesh. If you develop a fondness for some new sport, activity or area of entertainment, you can be sure the devil will try you out in that area. The onus is on you therefore to strike a balance to prevent such from becoming your Lord. You would observe that when you decide to engage in activity that will bring your flesh under subjection like fasting, the devil will battle to thwart such efforts by arousing some feelings like love for some foods which ordinarily you would not have been compelled by. It is at such time that you will feel so much hunger pangs even before 12 noon, when ordinarily on some days, you don’t eat before then and you don’t feel any such pangs. Hold the fort and resist such onslaught by the kingdom of darkness.

Watch your hobbies! If you like football, Satan can use it to get you to speak unadvisedly in the course of arguments and to miss church services. If a crucial football match were to take place on a Sunday morning, workers service that morning may suffer because some people will want to watch the match before going to church. If Satan succeeds in getting you to do so, ha has already overcome you because by so doing, you would have proved to God that He is secondary in your life i.e. He comes after the god of football. If you love movies, satan could use this to target your life of Holiness by tempting you with sex scenes sandwiched in the movie, as well as use it to kill your prayer life. When you should be praying or worshipping at night, you might be watching movies. To help yourself, say No to the things that your flesh loves, deliberately deny yourself of them and you will overcome.

Bible In One Year:
2 Samuel 13-15

Key Point
Because of Heaven, you might have to deny yourself of some things you love.

Bad Habits: Effective Tips On How to Break Up With Your Bad Habits (Business 2 Community)
Bad Habits: Effective Tips On How to Break Up With Your Bad Habits (Business 2 Community)

Change is hard some say. Some people are so used to old lifestyle or bad habits whether its unhealthy or detrimental to your finance, marriage, career etc that making a healthy-habit change becomes a very difficult mission.

Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.

Warren Buffett

Do you feel that some of your habits are holding you back from experiencing the successful life you desire? Your habit may be as small as biting your nails or buying expensive lattes every single day. At the other end of the spectrum, you may want to break free of smoking, extreme anger, excessive eating, or some other detrimental habits. Here are a few tips that can help you put an end to those pesky practice once and for all.

1. Find Your “WHY.”
Determine why you should stop. Think about how your may be hurting you and/ or others. Is it detrimental to your health? Screwing up your appearance? Putting a dent in your wallet? Does it make you act irrationally? Does it hurt your loved ones? Sit down and make a list of the benefits that you will experiencewhen you do put an end to this habit once and for all.

If you can find no compelling reason to stop, then the chances are high that you will be less willing to work toward quitting. Find a reason to stop the progression of your habit and hammer that thought into your mind each time you feel compelled to continue with it.

2. Get a Carrot
Of course, when there is a direct reward at the end of your journey, you will be much more inclined to give a wholehearted effort. Indulge in a trip to the spa, get a new outfit for work or make a trip to your favorite restaurant each time you reach a large milestone.

Ensure that your reward is not connected to the habit your are trying to stop. If, for instance, you are trying to quit smoking, it would make no sense, and be detrimental to reward yourself with a cigarette at the end of each week for “being good.”

Save the largest rewards for last. What do you want the most? What is something you have wished you could purchase or experience for a long time? Spend the time you would normally spend indulging in your habit to plan your pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

And, the reward should be in line with the complexity of your task. Rewarding yourself with a cruise to the Bahamas because you stopped biting your nails would be a bit of a stretch. But, rewarding yourself with a massage at the spa might be more rational.

3. Read About Success
Get a book or browse the web to read success stories of those that have previously been where you now find yourself, and were able to conquer the same habit. Being able to see social proof that others have been able to achieve the task you are now facing makes the pursuit seem tremendously more manageable.

4. Baby Steps
Focus on only one small step each week to ensure long lasting results. For example, if you are working at losing weight, you might want to eliminate sweets from your diet for the first week. The next week eliminate some of the other carbohydrates, like white bread, in addition to the sweets.

That old childhood adage, “slow and steady win the race” is true. Crash diets will not work, and quitting anything cold turkey will often lead to some other compensatory behavior. This is one reason that most people who are quitting smoking gain weight. They have the need to fix an oral fixation. And if the compensatory habit is just as much of an issue as the one that you are trying to break, then this will grind your progress to a halt and you will have to start all over again at step one.

Have measurable goals. What does that mean? If you are trying to minimize your spending, determine the average amount you spend each week in unnecessary purchases, like your daily latte fix, for example. Then set a goal to reduce that amount by 10% for the first week.

Habits provide you with a level of comfort that everything in your world is okay. They serve to give you a feeling of control over your circumstances. However, a dependency on a routine that has negative consequences or is detrimental to your physical and mental health can be replaced by choices that will fuel your success instead.

Remember that you are the boss of your mind, body, and soul. Embark on the road to breaking up with your bad habit today and prove to yourself just how much stronger you are than it is!
