Fumigation Didn't Get Rid Of The Nigerian Mosquitoes, What Next?
Tuesday June 11 2013
Today my boss comes back citeris paribus. What do I have planned out for today? Not much really, being a travel guide for MD is definitely not one of them. I’m gonna work from home until I get a call from my boss that he is coming back then and only then will I go to the office. That is provided there is power at home. I haven’t called Ifeanyi yet since he resigned, I need to speak with him. I did some small chores first as a result I read my open heaven late today. I prayed, downed a bowl of cereal.

Fumigation Didn't Get Rid Of The Nigerian Mosquitoes, What Next?
The fumigation didn't get rid of the mosquitoes. I have already started having the unwanted and unhealthy company of mosquitoes in my room that was fumigated recently. This is the fifth day after the room was fumigated! I've not even started reaping the health benefits of the fumigation.

I specifically asked the oga of the fumigation crew how long the fumigation will keep mosquitoes at bay and he said 3 MONTHS! I want to enjoy the benefits of the fumigation for at least one month! I know I had an ample exposure to the health hazard of the fume. These people just mix milky solution with toxic fumes strong enough to take down an elephant but weak enough to keep mosquitoes out for at least 5 days. It’s so annoying.

Is it that the Nigerian mosquitoes are insects of steel that can't be killed even with kryptonite or is it like I said the fumigation solution is just a ruse?

Next I calculatedly inserted myself intensely into the internet, the internet culture has it good and evil. There are so many things I want and need to research especially about blog SEO, if only the ripe and conducive condition is always at my disposal. I will explore or research till I drop! I stayed glued to the white screen till 12:33 pm when my boss called. Earlier Godwin his driver called to inquire if he will go to the airport today to pick MD. His move is dependent on MD’s call. The call is finally here. He instructed me to come with the driver so I can monitor his driving like his driver instructor.

I dressed up quickly and left the house. I passed the info to Godwin. He is to meet me at MD’s house. There was no fuel in the car so I drove to the filling station for fuel. I did that out of adventurous temptation to drive the car since I’m with the car keys and to eliminate waste of time when Godwin shows up. I bought more than half tank of fuel. I got breakfast from Spar, not one of those super healthy foods. Now I wait for Godwin.

He called complaining of heavy downpour in his area. Meanwhile the sun was happily and diligently doing its job in the Lekki area. I ate my delicious breakfast in the car once I got to MD’s house. Gradually the weather changed and the journeying rain reached the corridors and doors of Lekki. It rained for a while. Trust Lekki, flood is up already in some areas. Godwin is still nowhere to be found. My boss landed in Lagos but had to take a cab when I told him the situation.

He got home after about an hour or so. We talked about this and that. Then I asked him to reimburse me for the fuel I bought. He was like how? Who drove since Godwin didn’t show up? He has never believed I can drive. I don’t want him to believe either, it’s perfectly fine by me. I don’t want to turn to his substitute driver. He was so surprised. If only Godwin showed up this awkward moment would’ve been avoided smoothly.

My mind was preoccupied with some thoughts as I left MD’s house. I walked down the road towards the bus stop. A girl probably in her late twenties was coming in the opposite direction. The unladylike way she was walking caught my attention. She was just bouncing like some irregular guys would. Noticing I was looking at her, she locked her eyes to mine. In that moment we were about to walk past each other she said; “In the name of God come.” I was like “huh?” I didn’t quite hear the last word I think it was “come.” Are you kidding me?! I kept going wearing a stern unfriendly look without looking at her again. She starts following me behind and goes on;

“Answer me na. Answer me na! Na so una go dey suffer for Lagos. Stupid people!”

With that she turned back and continued heading the opposite direction. What in the world just happened? As I continued to walk towards the bus stop I wondered what onlookers or passersby who witnessed this think transpired now. This was the last thing I expected today. I’ve heard stories where a few men got into trouble for innocently and unknowingly helping out heartless prostitutes who turn around to claim the men slept with them and refused to pay. For the average eyewitness on the street, it’s pretty difficult to tell the truth. Thank God for the way it turned out. I took a bus home.

In a recent study from the Rice University, Houston, it has been revealed that the health benefits of the vegetables reach highest levels at the noon. So to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it is healthiest to eat vegetables during the afternoon.

The study asserted that the vegetables and fruits are still sensitive to day light after being harvested. Also, it asserted that the levels of antioxidants that fight cancer are at peaks levels at noon while they drop to half the maximum level in evening.

I have often eaten fruits especially apples in the day time. I can't say the same for vegetables.

Published in Current Biology, the study suggested that the fruits and vegetables too had internal clocks like human beings. Some of the compounds in plants are stimulated by the light-dark cycle after they are harvested.

Experts say that the levels of protective compounds in vegetable begin to drop after they are harvested. Janet Braam, a Researcher from Rice University, and her colleagues took cabbages and put them under light-dark cycle of 12 hours.

"And sure enough we found that when we put the plants under light-dark cycles, we found periods of accumulation of those beneficial chemicals", argued Braam. The findings suggested that the peak levels of the compounds were achieved in the afternoon.

Similar results were observed by the research team in lettuce, spinach, sweet potatoes and blueberries. The research explains significance of storing vegetables and fruits under light-dark cycles.

Now you know, give yourself a healthy facelift as you put this in practice for a healthy living.

Relationship Guidance: Basis Of Every Romance Relationship

This is incredible. I've never thought of a thing like this relationship guidance tip. Based on the relationship guidance chart by GraphJam, every romantic relationships share two major traits; what they hate in common and what they like in common. Graphically via GraphJam, they hate more things in common than what the couple both like. I reserve my comment on this relationship tip. Do you Agree or Disagree?

Couple Celebrate Platinum Anniversary 87 Years Posing As Groom And Bride At Age 4
Ron and Eileen Everest at age 4 (left), on their wedding day in 1943 (center) and in 2013 (right)
This is so amazing. If love like this and a soul-mate match like this was plenty in this world, divorce rate won't be astronomically high! And the good Lord kept them thus far. I'm in AWE! It brings tears to my eye.

There's a lesson to learn here from this wonderful couple. Relationship is perpetual commitment not commitment of convenience.

According to Dailymail

Ron and Eileen Everest never knew a world without each other. They were born in the same hospital. Ron and Eileen were born in 1921 and 1922 respectively and have been friends practically from birth.
As 4-year-olds, they posed as bride and groom in a pretend wedding at a carnival. Later, barely out of their teens, they married for real.

And this year, 87 years after that old photo was taken, the one they fondly refer to as their first wedding rehearsal, the British couple are celebrating their platinum anniversary after 70 years of marriage.

"We have been in love from the age of zero," Ron tells the Telegraph. "We were born in the same maternity hospital – we might have even been born in the same bed."

It wasn't fate, necessarily. In fact, Eileen took some convincing before she eventually agreed to marry Ron in 1943.

"I did not think much of Ron at all," she tells the Daily Mail. "But I did think he looked handsome in his Navy uniform. To be honest, I liked the look of the uniform more than him."

But 70 years after their wedding day, they can look back and see just how special their bond has been.

"We have had our ups and downs, but we have always got on," Eileen says.
Adds Ron: "We promised to love, honor and obey – and I did all the obeying."
Anyway, there's no backing out now. As Eileen says: "I think we will stay together forever."

The lines above is the lyrics from one of Bob Marley's numerous songs titled Sun Is Shining
"Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Makes you wanna move your dancing feet"

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has warned that there will be severe weather and heavy rainfall in Lagos tomorrow Tuesday June 18th.

NEMA spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the early warning is based on alerts received from the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development based in Niamey, Niger Republic.
He said:
“In Nigeria, Lagos and its environs are expected to experience torrential rainfall from about 50 mm 24h: Confidence medium means that all stakeholders must be prepared to take all precautionary steps against leaving the warning unattended......blah blah blah"
The NEMA warning at least shows some people work in that agency. It's good they warned before hand, Im glad it wasn't like Noah's warning of flood. I look out my window and the sun is shining. Yes it rained earlier, not heavy by any ramification. That goes to show you that man propose, God laughs and then dispose!

However I have one issue with the source of that warning. Seriously NEMA went to Niger Republic to get a reading on Nigerian weather?! What is NEMA Nigeria doing? Let me guess PHCN didn't give them power to do the work. Could it be the road to their office is bad so they went to Niger Republic. Just like we fly to foreign countries for good medical treatment? Is it the same reason why we import even common toothpicks? Let's hope they didn't come back with excess luggage of terrorist as evidence insurgence activities points in that direction.

I liken it to President Jonathan running to Niger Republic president to rule Nigeria with the resources of Niger Republic. That is ridiculous. I don't if the body is  African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development, Nigeria claiming GIANT of AFRICA should have it's reliable effective and efficient Meterological Institute.

Trust me some countries of Africa or non African believe Nigeria is the GIANT of AFRICA but in a negative sense. Please fix our own meteorological institute and forecast correctly from it next time. Thats my opinion which I'm entitled to.

Nigeria; good people, great nation
