Wild Goose Chase To The Edge Of Civilization
Wild Goose Chase To The Edge Of Civilization
Wednesday June 19 2013
Last night was feast of sleep. I couldn't just stay up at all. I felt like I was heavily sedated. The supposed drug didn't wear off until about 8:30 in the morning. I wasn't planning to hurry off to work because there is no specific task awaiting me and my boss traveled this morning on a business trip. As my body acclimatized to the daybreak and I began to bask in the euphoria of my momentary freedom, a call came through. It was from David a land agent. My boss gave him my number and he is waiting for me in the office. The fairy tale morning I was having just collapsed. That was when I actually woke up from sleep. I told him I'll be in the office in twenty minutes. I have no human idea where that came from. Of course I can never make it in twenty minutes, unless I use teleportation technology of alien civilization lol. I hurried off to meet them.

I got there 49 minutes later. There were two of them. We were to go inspect a piece of land somewhere at Ajah. I said ok lets go with so much enthusiasm. We filed out with me behind. When we passed all the cars at the car my spirit sank. This not the sort of trip one embarks on public transport, it'll be highly uncomfortable. So the transportation menu to the site was an appetizer trek to the bus stop. The main course was two bus rides. Traffic ambushed the second bus ride. Thanks to the clement weather it would've been messy. Then dessert was bike ride to and back from the edge of civilization literally. The road ended with a big sign board that reads ROAD ENDS HERE. It would seem we embarked on a travel adventure to the end of the world!

Beyond that point was vast virgin land and the supposed site was sandwiched somewhere in there. Naah! This land is not good. There's no access road to the place. We needed a piece of land where we can hit the ground running with our project and not where we will first of all waste time and resource inventing civilization. This is mission impossible, a glaring wild goose chase. We went back. We split at Alesh bus stop, they went to CMS and I went to Lekki. I pick the internet modem from MD's house.

One hour later power went out in the office. It got super boring. A quick nap I took turned into a long sleep. I woke up to pesky persistent bang on the door. Who on earth can it be? It was a DHL delivery man. He delivered one letter for my boss. About twenty minutes later power was restored. I did some research online regarding blogging, I'm still a novice I need to learn more. I closed at normal closing time.

LOSING YOUR BEARING? BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5

Read:
2 Corinthians 13:3-5
(2 Corinthians 13:3) Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

(2 Corinthians 13:4) For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

(2 Corinthians 13:5) Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

“Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.”

Matthew 12:33

Anyone in authority that lacks the fear of God is of great danger to the populace. Going by the above scripture, we have an obligation to such persons – be they in the church or in the secular world – to lead them to Christ. There are some of us who have those in authority as friends, relations, spouses, etc. Ensure you pray and lead them to Christ because, as you make a tree good, the fruit will also become good.

You may not believe this but I discovered a long time ago that it is possible to become a General Overseer or District Overseer without even knowing Christ. I once preached in a church on what it means to be born-again, after which I made an altar call. The pastor approached the altar followed by everyone else. Surprised, I said, “ sir, this is not an altar call for transfer of the anointing or power”. He replied, “Now that you have explained what it is to be born-again, I have realised the need to return to the altar”.

Thank God for people who are honest who are ready to amend their ways when they realised they have missed it. Even today, many ministers will need to pay a visit to the Cross of Calvary, because this is an era of holiness. How can you be holy if you are not born-again? Some people gave their lives to Christ but presently, they have withdrawn their commitment to Him. Are you still saved? To lie is the easiest sin for some ministers and their wives but they have forgotten that just one lie is enough to drown a soul in eternal hell.

One lie a couple told in Acts 5, led to their untimely death. If you are a bona fide minister of God, your mouth will feel very heavy if you want to tell a little lie. But if you say it with nothing pricking you, it shows your heart is already hardening. Run to the Cross and begin again. Some people think they are still running the race but they have lost their bearing.

Bible In One Year:
Psalm 97-99

Prayer Point
Father, in any way I have lost my bearing, in your mercy, bring me back to the right path.

Life Experience: Let The Dead Bury The Dead
Tuesday June 18 2013
Life experiences can worth a fortune. Seriously we need go through some of these experiences in life ourself. It's like dying, you die for yourself. In a telephone conversation Monday night with Chioma, I narrated to her in brief detail starting with his stupid text, the journey so far with sheltering the Ibes’. She was surprised at the text. Who wouldn't be. How can he even think of such insanely ridiculous thing. She requested Ibe's number to call him. Knowing Ibe, I advised her against it. After much pressure from her I obliged her the number. The call turned out exactly as I expected, no headway. Honestly I'm glad I had this life experience, I learnt a lot.

To my amazement though Ibe didn't go right off the bat to spew sh*t on her but he implied he is ready to spew sh*t if she bothers him again. He also LIED through his teeth that he has confronted me before about sleeping with his wife and did nothing. Chioma relayed all this to me. I got really infuriated. Now I removed the spare key finally. On my way to work Ibe called me and was like am I ready to talk. That if I’m ready to talk I should call him and not send my road dogs to call him. Before I could say a word he hung the phone on me. What is there to talk about with him? I ain't got nothing to say to you. Let the dead bury the dead.

I'm still learning more things from this unpleasant life experience. Everything you do is right. Everything I do is wrong. Keep living in that wisdom that shackles your muddled mind. I don't have time to prove how wrong or right I am to you. In zero consequence situation, I tell the truth as usual but I do not care whether people believe it or not. I just tell it so the fellow concerned will hear, you have a choice to believe me or not. It doesn't matter what you believe. I'm deeply satisfied in my soul and conscience that I told you the truth. In this case I've told the truth, "I'm tired of this association. Your lifestyle is suffocating and strangling me"

A Joyous Ending – RCCG Open Heavens Devotional Sunday 4th August 2013
A JOYOUS ENDING BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18

Read:
Luke 7:11-15

(Luke 7:11) And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

(Luke 7:12) Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

(Luke 7:13) And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

(Luke 7:14) And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

(Luke 7:15) And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

Open Heavens Message
Every part of the human body is important and is given to us for some reason. The mouth particularly is given to us to protest against any contrary condition we may be experiencing. If you fail to cry out when you should, you may be prolonging the negative situation you are in. I was out for a prayer walk one night and did not really care if anybody was around.

I had a very crucial issue to settle with God so I laid prostrate on the road. Then one fellow came to me and called Daddy. In my heart I wondered, ‘what is his business about this?’ Who is daddy when there is trouble? According to Luke 11:9-10, we are instructed to ask, seek and knock but the duration for making the request is not stated; in other words, we are to continue to ask, seek and knock until we receive our desire – till our joy is full (John 16:24). How are you asking?

Moreover another lesson from the Shunammite woman of 2 Kings 4:18-26 is that all is well that ends well. When you go through scriptures, you will see several people who encountered problems but at the end, they had a pleasant, glorious ending. How a given situation ends is more crucial. In Mark 2:1-12, we read of a man who was paralysed. He was borne by four people because his situation had made him heavier, but at last he walked home by himself. In Mark 5:1-20, we see how a notorious mad man became an evangelist.

Similarly, in Luke 7:11-15, we read of a woman who was happily married and had a son. At some point, she lost her husband then her son, and was embarking on a journey to bury him when she encountered Jesus. At the end, her trip into lasting sorrow became a trip into permanent joy and comfort when the lord raised up her son from the dead. Are you in a particularly sorrowful situation? The Lord will step in and your end shall be glorious. Fear not, the problem you think will kill you will not kill you. The problem will be terminated so that your joy might be full. You shall end in joy.

Bible In One Year:
Psalm 94-96

Prayer Point:
Father, irrespective of what I am going through today, let my end be glorious.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
I traveled to the eastern part of Nigeria from Lagos recently. I went for a burial of one of my uncles. God recalled him when he went to answer natures call in the fateful morning. The burial went absolutely smoothly.
As a traveler I took a few travel pictures. I would've taken more exotic travel pictures if only my camera didn't go out of commission, so sad.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Usekwu
The photo above is that of a modest USEKWU. Usekwu is an igbo word for kitchen. There's another modern kitchen indoors. A pot of white rice is on fire, it's almost done. You can see ITE (pot) sits on three legged EKWU or tripod stand for cooking. The fuel is firewoods. The firewood is dried OKA shrub and OWARA. I don't know what "oka" is in english, the english word for "owara" is jute palm fronds. The jute palm fronds is usually used to erect yam barn

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Ihu Ezi
This our IHU EZI. That is compound. A coconut sits in a small roundabout in the middle. That coconut don't taste good to me but I eat it anyway lol. Beyond the red gate is a fairly large farm land but it wasnt cultivated this year. You can see the plantains, banana plants, etc.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Usekwu with no fire
This is that usekwu where a pot of rice was on fire. Its early morning, no fire yet. It doesn't usually see fire everyday.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Maize storage
Maize storage. Maize hung over the cooking area, the heat from the cooking helps dry the and preserve the maize.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Pot of bush meat
A pot of ANU OHIA (bush meat). In this case the bush meat is NCHI (grasscutter). Its a delicacy.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Isi Nchi
This is the head of the ANU NCHI. This was a fully matured grasscutter. You have no idea how delicious this tastes lol.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Youth Day
This is Mazi Alozie and Nwada Chinwe presenting a mock news during Methodist Church's Youth Day at Trinity Methodist Church Umuegwu. It was a hilarious comic relief. Mazi Alozie is talented at doing this. He cracked everybody up lol!

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Abacha
Now here's another delicacy. I love this dish. It's called ABACHA or popularly known as AFRICAN SALAD. The ingredients include abacha (cassava flaked a bit like pasta), potash salt, oil, garden egg, garden egg leaves, assorted fish, prawn, etc as you want to add.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Okpa
This is called OKPA prepared from OKPA seed. I don't english word okpa sorry. But this is a delicacy. This particular one is wrapped with plantain or banana leaves which is the traditional and healthiest method. The plantain/banana makes it leaves gives it extra nice taste or flavour. It can be prepared using nylon bags too. Okpa is heavy and very filling healthy energy food.

Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State
Travel Photos: Souvenirs From My Journey To God's Own State - Coming back from the stream
This photo is one of my oldest exotic travel photo lol. I didn't take this phot on my recent travel. The people in the photo were coming back from the stream called OTI. The have no idea they are on my blog. I have no idea who they are. There a guy who went to fetch firewood in the photo too.

The road behind was constructed recently. It used to be very muddy during rainy season and very nastily dusty during dry/harmattan season. Everybody is happy this road was finally constructed courtesy of NDDC.
