MIDWIVES ARE REWARDED BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3

Read:
John 14:1-3

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3

Open Heavens Devotional Message
Can you dare to stand alone? Can you dare to stand on the side of God while the government is against you? The midwives of Exodus 1 fell out of favour with the government of the day but they did not care. As a result of their sacrificial obedience to God, they entered into favour with God and began to receive special divine care according to Exodus 1:20. In fact, verse 21 says,

“And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.”

This could mean those who were single and searching found their right spouses and got married. It could also mean that those who were married had peace and multiplication in their homes. Also, this could mean that tenants among them became landladies by divine favour and speed. Beloved, are people laughing at you while you are obeying the King of kings? Are they calling you a fool because you refuse to compromise like others are doing to succeed? Are people saying you do not know the shortcut to prosperity? Never mind. Stay focused on your God-given assignment! God did not forget the midwives; He will also not forget you. God gave them households. God will not forget you or your labour in soul winning!

In John 14:1-3, the Lord assures us that He is building mansions for us. Many years ago, the Lord took me in a vision to a place in a city beyond compare in beauty. I saw a house under construction which was massive and had many rooms. The labourers were busy working at it. When I asked the Lord who owns the house, He said, ‘Son, this is your house’, expecting that since there is no night in Heaven, when my children come to pay me visits, they will have rooms to stay. He said the building is still going on as long as I am winning souls. Beloved, whether people believe it or not, I know what I saw. I saw mansions in Heaven. I have seen my own building. The Lord is equally building yours. Are committed to winning souls? Soul winners are so dear to God’s heart that He makes them relevant both in time and in eternity. How much have you worked for your heavenly reward?

Bible In One Year:
Ezra 8-10

Prayer Point
Father, help me to serve you acceptably so that I do not lose my earthly and eternal rewards.

DEALING WITH DEVOURERS BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
Memorise:
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:11

Read:
Malachi 3:8-11

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8

Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Malachi 3:9

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:11

Another area that restitution may be required in relation with God’s instructions can be seen in His dealings with Joshua and the children of Israel. Earlier, in Joshua 1:1-9, God promised to go with him and that no man would be able to stand before him throughout his life, etc so when they got to Jericho widely believed to be impregnable, just one shout, the walls came crashing down. Then one day, they came against a little town, Ai, and they were defeated. This was contrary to what God had promised him, so he fell on his face and enquired what went wrong. The Lord told him that some water had mixed with his petro (gas) and that until there was a separation, they were on their own. Until the culprit – Achan and his family were identified, isolated and destroyed and the stolen things were restored, victory continued to elude them. This tells us that restitution restores God’s presence in your life. It also sustains victory and ends defeat. So if you restitute, you are doing yourself a world of good.

Moreover, restitution silences devourers. In Malachi 3:8-11, God said all His children who are robbing Him in tithes and offerings have violated His covenant, and therefore are under a divine curse. However, He says if they will restitute their ways, He will personally rebuke the devourer for their sakes and open the windows of Heaven to them and give them a blessing they will be unable to contain. There are two type of devourers – the ones sent by the devil (John 10:10) and the ones sent by God. To deal with the devourers sent by the devil, simply resist him and he will flee from you as long as you are in right standing before God. But to deal with the devourers sent by God, it is through restitution. You will have to cry to God for forgiveness and thereafter undo what made Him to send the devourers in the first place. Do you owe God in tithes, offerings, thanksgiving or vows? Ask for forgiveness and go ahead and pay what you owe. If it is in tithes, also add 20% as interest being the penalty for eating your tithes (Leviticus 27:31).

Bible In One Year:
Ezra 5-7

Action Point
If you tolerate devourers, God will do nothing about them.

KNOW YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:6

Read:
Ephesians 2:4-6

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Ephesians 2:4

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Ephesians 2:5

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:6

Open Heavens Devotional Message
The best category of motion is flying. When you fly, you experience fast unhindered progress. One thing to note here is that those who fly use a different medium and follow a different path from those using other categories of motion; they go through the air while the rest go on land. Motion through the airways is at minimal risk of collision with obstruction on like motion on land which is laden with so many obstructions. Those who go by the airways are often closer to the first heaven – the firmament and as a result see more and think more on things above, while those who go by land see more of earthly things and think more on carnal things. Hence, Colossians 3:1 says,

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”

The scripture tells us of our spiritual placement, which is why we should be flying in the airways and not moving on the land.

First, Ephesians 1:20-23 says after Jesus was raised from the dead, He was set up at God’s right hand in the heavenly places, far above all the hierarchies of the kingdom of darkness, and as a result, all things are put under His feet. Ephesians 2:6 further tells us,

“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

In other words, just as Jesus was raised and set up in heavenly places, so also have we been raised up and set up to sit with Him where He is. Praise God! No wonder He told us in Luke 10:19,

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

This means just as He is above all evil powers, so are we; as He has them under His feet so do we, hence we should tread on them. You cannot tread on what is above you. Beloved, not many of us are flying because we have not received the revelations in these passages. If you can catch this revelation of your through position in Christ, it will affect your motion in all areas of life.

Bible In One Year:
2 Samuel 1-4

Key Point
If you are up, the things below you can easily come under your control.

MAKING GOD FULFILL HIS WORD BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5:18

Read:
James 5:16-18

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. James 5:17

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5:18
Open Heavens Devotional Message
In 1 Kings 18:41-45, after the man of God heard the sound of abundance of rain, he spoke it out. Amos 3;8 says.

“The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?”

When God has spoken to you, then you should prophesy. You can declare what He has said except He tells you to keep it to yourself. Beyond declaring it, the man of God embarked upon intense prayer. But why pray when he had already heard from God and he knows what he had heard? Psalm, 115:3 says God does as He pleases. 1 Samuel 2:30 says the same God who earlier made a promise to Eli later revoked His promise. He can say something and because of certain circumstances He can say He is no longer saying so, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Elijah also knew of God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7: 14, that if he approached God in reverence, humility and submission to His will, God will hear and answer.

This is one lesson we ought to learn today. Many times, we take for granted that because God has said something, He will surely do it. We refuse to follow up on His promise. Some of us even do things that offend God, capable of changing His mind, yet we expect Him to remain committed to His promise. The truth is that in the process of time, many people have disqualified themselves from an earlier divine promise.

Do you take time to pray God’s promises into manifestation? If God says He will give you victory over a particular enemy, hold Him by that promise until He fulfills it. But if it is something negative such as a judgment, go into prayer and fasting and humble yourself yielding completely to Him, so that He can reverse it. While holding on to God in prayer, ensure you do everything to please Him. Praise Him. Worship Him with your whole heart. Obey all His instructions and make Him happy. Keep totally away from sin and also remind Him of His Word. When you do all these, He will surely answer you.

Bible In One Year:
1 Samuel 29-31

Action Point
Thank God for what He has promised you. Now ask Him to bring it to pass today.

A DEBTOR IN THANKS? BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Ephesians 5:4

Read:
Ephesians 5:1-4

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Ephesians 5:1

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians 5:2

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Ephesians 5:3

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Ephesians 5:4

Open Heavens Devotional Message
To become a divine favourite, you must be ready to be different. When people are busy discussing things of no heavenly values, you will keep them at a distance. 2 Timothy 2:23 says such an individual must avoid foolish and unlearned questions, while Ephesians 5:4 says,

“Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.”

Instead of saying anything that does not glorify God or make jest of people, God expects you to give thanks. In other words, in God’s estimation, all the man hours wasted on filthy or immoral communication, gossips, exaggerations and jesting are seen as time for thanksgiving that was not given to God. This means if you have spent one hour speaking what does not edify yourself and others or glorify God, you have just robbed God of an hour of thanksgiving. By the time God uses this scripture to take stock of our lives; people will owe Him so much in thanksgiving. Stop complaining of the nation or of bad leaders; complaining does not stop them from their evil. Rather use such time to thank God and pray for them, this will deliver you something worthwhile.

Divine favourites do not waste their time in frivolities but use free moments to appreciate their God. They spend time discussing heavenly things. They are not only special but also peculiar. People must be able to look at you and say you are different. The definition of fanatical Christianity is actually that the fellow loves Jesus more than you do. If others decide to soil their hands in that business deal, you will remember according to Psalm 24:3-5, that your hands and heart must be clean, and so you would rather choose not to join them. You are special to God. You cannot afford to behave like others. Eagles do not eat dead animals. It is vultures that do that and may even prefer rotten ones. Are you an eagle or a vulture? Your Father is holy, how come you do not mind sinning? Be like the eagle you have been called to be and God will back you up. Separate from all shady deals. In any case, are you a debtor to God in thanksgiving?

Bible In One Year:
1 John 1-2

Key Point
Thanksgiving is a work of righteousness, faith and love. It adds to your credit with God.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8

Read:
Daniel 1:8-16

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8

Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs. Daniel 1:9

And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. Daniel 1:10

Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Daniel 1:11

Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Daniel 1:12

Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. Daniel 1:13

So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. Daniel 1:14

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. Daniel 1:15

Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse. Daniel 1:16

To shine is to be peculiar according to 1 Peter 2:9. Those who are peculiar are usually different. It also means to stand out from the crowd. In 2 Kings 2:1-8, there were many sons of the prophets but only Elisha stood out and shone all the way. To shine you must be willing to be special. Acts 19:11-12 says God performed special miracles through one of His servants who was willing to shine. Do you know that God is ready to use you to do the impossible?

Do you know that everything you need to succeed in life and ministry is already prepared by God? The problem is that we are not willing: we are often not ready. Do you know some of us keep God on His toes? He is ever ready but are we? Before God ever sent you on an errand, He had provided everything for you to successfully carry out that assignment. Even when you are faced with lack, God does not see any lack because He has made provision for all things. All you need to do is to go to Him in all sincerity and ask.

Another reason many of us cannot shine is because we refuse to pay the price to shine. God will not ask you to pay the price that you cannot. He is no taskmaster. If you are special, your standard must be quite high. You cannot afford to eat what every other person is eating. Daniel was special and he refused what others ate and at the end, he and his pals had a different result from every other person

If you want to end differently let your consecration level and loyalty level be different. If you do what every other person is doing, but expect to end somewhere else, then you must be a joker. Are you prepared to pray more intensively, worship more in spirit and truth and study the Word as never before? Are you prepared to make sacrifices for the kingdom? It is what you are prepared to give up or to give in that will determine what God is willing to give out to you.

Bible In One Year:
Song of Solomon 4-6

Action Point
Ask God for the grace to be positively different.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. 1 Samuel 16:11

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. 1 Samuel 16:13

Besides motionlessness and crawling, the next category of motion is walking. The first two categories have to do with immaturity. When a month old baby is placed somewhere, the legs and hands can be moving in the air but there will be no physical motion. Also, it is toddlers that crawl on their hands and feet; when a toddler wants to move towards maturity, he or she will begin to stand and walk. To walk means to move from one point to another at a uniform pace on foot. The progress that can be attained with this kind of motion is minimal. Most people are at this level of motion. They move from month to month just managing to exist.

However, apart from walking there is leaping as another category of motion. In Acts 3:1-8, when the lame fellow was healed, he began to walk and to leap. To leap is to move by jumping forcefully with a long or high arc. Even though the upward height attained by leaping is temporal, it is still better than just waling. There are some things ordinarily beyond your reach but when you leap, you are able to access them. This can be compared in financial terms with a business man who gets one contract in three years. Another category of motion is running. To run is to make steady, speed progress. In Genesis 26:12-14, we read that Isaac’s financial and material blessings took a progressive trajectory. Verse 13 of this scripture says,

And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great

That is progress at some speed. The next category is flying. To fly is to make a fast upward motion and to sustain motion at the height so attained for a while. If you were to go from Lagos to Abuja by running, it could take you at least two days if you are very strong, but if you were to fly in an airbus, it would take you less than an hour. In other words, when you fly, time and results are in you favour. What will take your colleagues so long to accomplish would be achieved at a considerable shorter time by you. For instance, in 1 Samuel 16:11-13, David woke up that morning as a shepherd boy but before evening, he had been anointed king. That is expedited progress far beyond running and this will be your portion this season.

Song of Solomon 1-3

Father, give speed to my progress.

BE WISE, WIN SOULS BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Proverbs 11:29-31

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. Proverbs 11:29

Open Heavens Devotional Message
Psalm 111:10 says if you will be wise at all, you will start by fearing God. Proverbs 3:7 says,

“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
Proverbs 3:7

This means it is not what men think wisdom is that is truly wisdom but what God calls wisdom. Also, it tells us that it is wisdom to avoid sin in its entirety and foolishness to live in sin. Are you born-again? God says you have started your journey into wisdom. Any step into sin therefore is dumping wisdom for foolishness. Show me a wise believer and I will show you a believer who keeps sin at arms-length. How close are you to sin?

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”
Proverbs 11:30

Another yardstick for measuring wisdom is the ability to win souls. The scripture did not say the fellow who wins a soul to Christ once in a long while – say three or six months, is wise, but the fellow who continues to win souls. If you win souls once in a while, you are to be commended: you are at the periphery of wisdom. But if you want to be counted as wise, you must do so more often. We live at the end time and there is a massive assignment God has for today believers in Christ that involves serious, planned and sustained soul winning.

The wise believers will be actively involved in soul winning irrespective of their primary calling or department, while the foolish believers will occupy themselves with activities that have no bearing with soul winning. Someday God will draw a line between the wise and the foolish, between the soul winners and believers who refuse to win souls. On that day, where will you fall? How many souls have you won to the Lord this year, this month or this week? Key into soul winning and key into wisdom and eternal blessing today!

Read:
Revelation 7:15-17

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. Revelation 7:16

Open Heavens Devotional Message
Apart from consuming stones, the fire that came down from heaven equally dried up the water poured on and around the sacrifice Elijah made on mount Carmel (1 Kings18:38). Water here stands for tears and sorrow. One reason the Holy Spirit is called comforter is because He is a specialist at delivering comfort to those who are in sorrow or who are hurting. Revelation 7:17 says,

“For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

If you are a man or woman of the Spirit, He will definitely use you to deliver comfort to those in need of it. The level of comfort you are able to deliver to your generation is a function of the measure of the Holy Spirit you have in you, and the level of closeness you share with Him.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”
Isaiah 61:1

From the above scripture, we see that it takes the infilling of the Spirit to be able to effectively preach salvation to the lost sinners, heal broken hearts, set the captive free and release inmates from Satan’s prison. If a pastor is full of the Spirit and he is transferred to a parish with lots of sorrow, sickness, poverty, loss, failure, etc., you will discover that before long, all those tokens of the liar will disappear and in place of tears, there shall be tears of joy and lots of miracles. If you want to truly be of help to anyone – be it in ministerial or secular matters, get close to the Holy Spirit. When you have the Spirit in you, you will save lots of effort and needless struggles. Merely saying, ‘It is well’ to a hurting fellow will have a great impact in comfort. Besides merely showing sympathy, if you are full with the Holy Spirit, He can reverse the source of the sorrow and deliver permanent joy. Are you prepared to impact your generation?

STAND OUT! BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17

Read:
Acts 19:11-12
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: Acts 19:11

So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Acts 19:12

Open Heavens Devotional Message
There are people who have gone through the best of theological institutions and have been certified and recognised by men, but they are nowhere to be found among God’s favourites because they have not drawn closer to God as He expects of them. May you be among the divine eagles! However, among eagles, there are stand-out eagles. Acts 5:12-16 says special miracles were performed by the hands of some eagles while others only experienced ordinary miracles. All the apostles were eagles but only Peter had his shadow healing the sick.

One of my very young children returned from Sunday school one day and asked: ‘Dad, do you really know the Bible?’ ‘I know the Bible very well I replied’. Then he said ‘Who is Prochorus?’ I told him I don’t know that person. ‘What about Nicanor?’ Then I asked, ‘Is that in the Bible?’ He further asked, ‘what about Timon?’ ‘Do you mean Simeon?’ He said no. so I said ‘I don’t know what you are talking about’. ‘But Dad, I thought you said you know the Bible; these are among the seven deacons in the early church’. I said, ‘God have mercy on them because I only know Stephen and Philip’. I obviously lost sight of the others because they were hardly ever mentioned afterwards, whereas Stephen and Philip were shinning stars as God’s favourites.

Believe it or not, some Christians may never taste of the level of special miracles that Paul saw God doing through him in Acts 19:11-12. To become a divine favourite, there is a price to pay. First, you must be prepared to separate from every unclean thing (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). Nobody can become outstanding if he or she is unwilling to stand out. While pigeons gather together, eagles fly alone. You cannot afford to do things the way others are doing them if you want to become God’s favourite. Others may overeat or oversleep but you cannot afford such luxury because of where you are going. Are you ready to pay the price to become His favourite?

Bible In One Year:
Revelations 10-12

Acts 19:12

Memorise:
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:15

Read:
John 12:1-6

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. John 12:1

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. John 12:2

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. John 12:3

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, John 12:4

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? John 12:5

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. John 12:6

Gehazi was being prepared to be a highly anointed man of God but he was busy chasing after wealth and riches. He got what he wanted and even beyond it. If you are pursuing wealth, you will get more than you bargained for. It is one thing to acquire wealth but another thing to live to spend it. The only blessing that will make you rich without adding sorrow is the blessing that comes from God. If you are stealing or doing illegal business, even before you die, it will take its toll on you. Gehazi got the money but he also got the disease that Naaman was prepared to pay any amount to get rid of. He could not enjoy his reward of iniquity and he brought leprosy to his generation.

You cannot tell where that seemingly little sin could lead you. All that David wanted to do that day as he saw Uriah’s naked wife, was just to have sex, but he got more than he bargained for. That sin was just the beginning of several more sins and it brought a lasting curse upon David’s family. You can tell the beginning of a sin but you may not be able to tell its end. When Judas Iscariot was pursuing money, little did he know that it could make him to sell his master, lead to suicide and cause him to be abhorred eternally. Be mindful of your steps.

Are you thinking of stealing from the offerings of the church? You will be biting more than you can chew! Are you secretly planning to commit fornication or adultery? Did you say it will only be once and you will never try it again? The truth is, that single act of sin will surely attract others in quick succession and each will come with their repercussions. When you avoid committing a sin, you keep yourself from several unpleasant consequences. If you do not want an evil harvest, steer clear of sin – no matter how small, seemingly hurt free or secretive it appears. You cannot effectively hide sin no matter how smart you are.

Bible In One Year:
Acts 10-12

Key Point
Behind sin are terrible consequences. Every sin you avoid, you save yourself, family and generations multitudes of evils.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matthew 25:28

Read:
Matthew 25:24-30

(Matthew 25:24) Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed

(Matthew 25:25) And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

(Matthew 25:26) His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

(Matthew 25:27) Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

(Matthew 25:28) Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

(Matthew 25:29) For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

(Matthew 25:30) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Believers have different endowment of grace from God. God has given us different talents. It is one thing to have a talent and another thing to use it. In Acts 8:5-8, Philip shone for the Lord and brought joy to a city. How many individuals, families or communities have you delivered joy to? If one man with the same Holy Spirit you have can deliver joy to a city, you have no excuse for not being a source of joy to others. On the other hand, if light fails to shine, darkness will take over. If you consider the aftermath of not trading with the talent given in the parable of the talents, no believer in his or her right mind will like to go through such (Matthew 25:28-30). Instead of a commendation, the unprofitable servant received a rebuke. May the Lord not rebuke you for neglecting your talent!

Besides rebuke, the servant who received one talent lost it to his colleague who traded with his. Do you now that apart from eternity, some believers can lose their talents to fellow believers on earth? This is one reason to use whatever God has given you in a most productive way to glorify Him. If God is totally glorified in the way you use the resources He has given you, there will be no need to give it to someone else. Today, there are many believers who once had certain talents or abilities but because they failed to use them well, the grace to operate such divine endowments was withdrawn; they can only point to other people they see using the talents they once had. That shall not be your portion in Jesus name!

The servant was tagged an unprofitable servant. Can God call you a profitable servant? What kind of profit has your presence and involvement brought to the Kingdom of God? Finally, the servant has to share eternity with unbelievers. In other words, if your salvation through the blood of Jesus cannot benefit God’s Kingdom, one can still end up in hell. May you end up in Heaven! Rise up, dust your talents and begin to use them from now.

If your life can truly generate profits for God’s Kingdom, you stand to benefit from God both now and in eternity.

(Numbers 12:3) (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

(Numbers 12:4) And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

(Numbers 12:5) And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

(Numbers 12:6) And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

(Numbers 12:7) My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

(Numbers 12:8) With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

(Numbers 12:9) And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.

(Numbers 12:10) And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

Many people view wisdom from different angles. But if we were to use the fear of God as the yardstick for measuring wisdom, then you can be very certain we have quite a number of foolish people among us. Psalm 111:10 says,

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”

Not many of us fear God – even ministers of God! We fear our bosses in our work places. We fear those who approve contracts for us. We fail to fear the One who should be our fear and dread (Isaiah 8:13). Can you believe that some ministers of God find it difficult to join the congregation in praising God? At praise or worship time, you will find some of them standing straight and looking in a sanctimonious way as if they have forgotten that the day they became ministers of God, they were placed right in God's palms. If God wants to deal with His ministers, He does not need to search for them; all He needs to do is close His hands.

Do you say you are a worker or minister and you still tell lies? Do you steal? Do you falsify reports or approve reports that you know are not true? Remember God is seeing you. Do you know that many titled orthodox ministers fear God more than we so called Pentecostals; this is why many scandals are rife in our midst than theirs. If you do not know anything about God, do know that He is a Consuming fire. He is quiet because He is so powerful.

When a river is shallow, it makes a lot of noise. In Numbers 12:1-16, when Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, God summoned the three of them and asked the offenders why they were not afraid to speak against His faithful servant. God left in anger without doing anything, yet as soon as He left, Miriam was covered with leprosy. What if He had decided to do something, would Miriam have survived it? Ministers of God, God still judges His servants. Tread carefully and fear Him.

Do you know that you can go through this world without your impact being felt? Surprisingly, this is the experience of most people all through their lives; they lived without being noticed. If you look at the scriptures, you will find quite some names which were mentioned once or twice in the bible which never amounted to anything in God’s Kingdom. May that not be your portion! During state functions, while special attention is given to important dignitaries such as governors, ambassadors, ministers, commissioners, etc. every other person will be classified and received in the common place. For such people, it really does not matter to the organisers of the function whether they are entertained or not.

The reason some people will never become God’s favourite is that even when they have the potential, they refuse to develop it. They have the wings but just refuse to fly. In 2 Kings 2:1-15, it was common knowledge that Elijah, the nation’s prophet and spiritual head was about to be taken to Heaven. All the sons of the prophets in the prophetic school knew of this, yet they refuse to fly. Only Elisha acted on that information and he became a divine eagle. Before that transition, many sons of the prophets in the prophetic school looked down on Elisha. They saw him no more than a servant that he was. He was not schooled in theology like they were. He was not certified like they were.

They were recognized as prophets-to-be but he was only a messenger. Even on the day of Elijah’s transition, when they saw Elisha, they flaunted the spiritual information at their disposal: ‘Hi messenger, do you know that you are about to be separated from your master today?’ it is not impossible that some of them really desired to take over from Elijah but they did nothing about it. At the end, after a receipt of the double portion of the spirit upon Elijah, they bowed to Elisha having seen the evidence that he was now carrying twice what his master once carried. Doing nothing simply takes you nowhere.

And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

(2 Kings 2:6) And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

(2 Kings 2:7) And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

(2 Kings 2:8) And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

(1 Samuel 11:2) And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.

(1 Samuel 11:3) And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days' respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.

(1 Samuel 11:4) Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.

(1 Samuel 11:5) And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.

In 2 Kings 5:20, Gehazi not only resolved to pursue Naaman but also to take something from him. Little wonder he got what he sought! Matthew 7:7 says it is what you seek that you will find. What are you seeking? When this question was thrown at Paul, he said he was seeking to know Jesus and the power of His resurrection, and he got it. Be careful of what you are searching for! However, there is a dangerous twist when Naaman turned to receive and attend to Gehazi. This simply tells us that the devil makes backsliding very easy. Gehazi did not have to run after Naaman for too long. If he did, he would probably have grown tired and could have changed his mind. It is common knowledge that you don’t need much strength of effort to descend a hill. Usually, while facing a temptation, the devil makes it so alluring and easy to get. He tells his potential victim to go ahead and immediately feed on his or her lust. This is one reason to suspect anything that seems good but appears so easy to achieve; it could just be a satanic booby trap!

Satan easily plans the fall of men and women. He sets people up. Have you ever wondered what Uriah’s wife was doing naked at that time of the day, considering it was not yet night? David got up from bed and he felt like taking a stroll; unknown to him, Satan had set up both of them to fall into the sin of adultery. Every satanic set up to bring you down shall fail.

Many years ago, while I was still young in the village, I overheard the native medicine man saying that if one is preparing medicine to heal the sick and seven leaves are required, which must be arranged in a particular order; that if one misses the order by one step, the healing charm would not work. But that if one requires seven leaves to prepare an evil charm, by the time the fellow gets five, the charm will take effect. James 4:8 says if you choose to pursue God, He will equally simplify the process for you. For every step you take towards God, He will take a longer stride towards you. In other words, if you truly want to serve God in the midst of difficult circumstances, He will be there to back you up with His grace.

Apart from making sacrifices and sowing seeds, another step you must take to enter your next level is prayer. You need to pray because it is only God who can bring you from the past to the present and take you from the present to the future. He is the one who is totally in charge of the elements of time and chance that are required to move you to your next level (Ecclesiastes 9:11). John 15:5 says without God, we can do nothing. If you look at the lives of patriarchs of old, you would see the role prayer played. Abraham and Isaac were great intercessors and Jacob too was a prayer warrior. After wasting several years, it got to a point that he realised he could no longer continue without prayer; so he tarried in God’s presence and wrestled with God until his name was changed and his destiny was released. Do you realise that if he had refuse to breakthrough in prayers, he could have been shut out of the destiny that had been earlier prophesied about him? Many people who claim to know Jesus are still separated from their next level because they have refused not just to pray but to pray through. what Is the essence of praying without getting result?

Looking back in retrospect, I can tell you that my father-in-the-Lord Pa Akindayomi was a seasoned prayer champion. Many years ago, Baba came to visit me in Ilesa (South-west Nigeria).
Then, I lived in a small house on the outskirts of the town and the toilet was outside the house. When I was going to bed that evening, Baba was on his knees praying. I woke up at night to go to toilet and he was still praying. On rising up the following morning, Baba was still praying. I became afraid and began to wonder how I could cope with a man like him. I also wondered what he was praying about, but today I know better. Are you really keen on entering your next level? Then you cannot afford to ignore prevailing prayers. Arise today and hold on to the Lord in prayers until your answer is delivered.

Luke 8:22-25
( Luke 8:22) Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

(Luke 8:23) But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

(Luke 8:24) And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. Luke 8:25

Open Heavens Devotional Message
The scripture in today’s memory verse, tells us that negative events have time limits. If this were not the case, no one would have been able to enjoy life at all. This also means that the fact that something went wrong is no reason why it will end wrong. Weeping can last for a night, but it will be gone in the morning. Are you weeping? It shall soon give way for joy. It also tells us that no matter the situation you are in now, as long as you are linked with Jesus who is a master of situations and circumstances (M.Sc.), it shall end in joy.

From the story of the Shunammite woman recorded in 2 King 4:18-26, we learnt that often times, storms never give notice before they come. Early that morning when the woman woke from sleep, the temperature of her son was normal, if it was not so, the boy would not have been allowed to visit his father in the field. You may never know when you will need to cry to God; therefore you must not owe God in vows (Psalm 50:14-15). When Jesus asked that they go over to the other side, the storm did not give any indication that it will come.

One of my daughters was travelling to the Eastern part of Nigeria, sitting at the back seat of a Peugeot car as she read her bible. Then suddenly while at top speed, the front tire of the vehicle she was in busted. She could only remember one word – Jesus. She shouted it while the car began to somersault. At that point, there was no time to confess sins. Suddenly, the door was flung open and invisible hands picked her up and gently sat her down by the road, from where she became onlooker in an accident she was involved in. at the end of it all, she was the only survivor who narrated the story. Usually, what occurs suddenly may be out of the control and timing of man, but it is within God’s control. No sudden event can take God by surprise. The Lord will step into that so-called sudden event and bring you out of trouble. However, let your ways always be right with God.

Bible In One Year:
1 Kings 20-22

Key Point:
The reality of sudden disasters is a good reason to always be prepared for death.

THE SPIRIT RELEASES POTENTIALS BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

Read:

Judges 6:19-21

(Judges 6:19) And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.

(Judges 6:20) And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

(Judges 6:21) Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.

Open Heavens Devotional Message
The Holy Spirit is often symbolized by fire. In judges 6:19-21, when Gideon offered an angel of God a meal, he was asked to package it in a basket and place in on a rock. Thereafter, the angel touched it with his staff and fire came. Inside every wood is the potential of a fire, which is why it is called firewood. But if the wood does not contact fire, it would die and rot away like an ordinary wood. This simply tells us that inside every Christian, there is the potential of becoming a mighty man or woman of God. However, and most unfortunately many Christians may live and die as ordinary people, without performing a single miracle, because the Holy Spirit fire has not come to change an ordinary firewood.

When Jesus borrowed Peter’s boat and taught the people from it, He afterwards gave him a boat-sinking catch of fishes, He then told him he would become a fisher of men from that day (Luke 5:1-11). Yet, for the next three years, Peter did not manifest in a dynamic way the potential to win souls that was in the inside of him. However on the day of Pentecost, when he came in contact with fire, the potential which had been buried within him for three years suddenly erupted. He preached a single sermon and won 3000 souls! (Acts 2:41) You are not on earth by accidents. God did not create you just to eat, drink, go to work, return from work of school, play, go to church, and shout Hallelujah!

Your life is more than that! God has a purpose for creating you. There is a destiny in you that must be fulfilled. That potential in you must be fully exploited for the Lord. But, have you contacted the fire that can release your hidden potential? Have you contacted the Holy Spirit who alone can unearth your buried destiny? Draw closer to the Holy Spirit of Grace today and you will fulfill your destiny. There is a user of this Devotional, who has been worried over how to fulfill the glorious destiny God had earlier spoken of. Just draw closer to the Holy Spirit and obey Him completely and your destiny will be released.

Bible In One Year:
Psalm 114-118

Prayer Point:
Holy Spirit, as I draw closer to You this period, release my destiny from where it has been buried.

BABE, GROW UP! BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18

Read:
1 John 3:18-19

( 1 John 3:18) My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

( 1 John 3:19) And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

One way of identifying God’s favourite is in the brazen boldness they display wherever they are. They fear nobody but God and avoid nothing else but sin. One great attribute of the eagle which should be manifested in the life of God’s favourites, is the way it dies. It is pretty difficult to find the carcass of an eagle anywhere in the jungle. Why?

This is because when it is old and about to die, it flies up to the highest mountain, sits and faces the sun, and as the sun sets, it drops and dies. This simply assures divine eagles of a glorious end ahead. You shall not die in disgrace. You shall not die in dishonor. Your transition shall be glorious because you are a divine eagle. Do you know that Elijah left this world in God’s chariot of fire, triumphantly? You too, at old age, when your work on earth for the master is done, shall leave victoriously in Jesus name.

However, and this is most unfortunate, most Christians never become God’s favourite even after they have received forgiveness, salvation, deliverance, healing and several other blessings; they remain at the level that they were at salvation virtually all through their lives. They never climb to the level of sanctification. They receive healing but never get to be used by God to impact healing on the sick. They receive deliverance but are never able to set any captive free; they are blessed but never become blessing to others; they have wings but they refuse to fly.

Such Christians remain fledglings all through their lives. You cannot afford to go through life and remain at the bottom! God said you shall be head and not tail. What are you doing at the bottom of the ladder? There are heights before you. There are battles to fight and win. There are giants to fight and defeat. That you have been under does not mean you should die there. There is no divine commendation for those who failed to grow in God’s grace that was made available. Rise up today and start working to get to the top. You shall get there.

Bible In One Year:
Psalm 109-113

RICHES CAN DISAPPOINT BY PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

Memorise:
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:5

Read:
Proverbs 23:4-5
(Proverbs 23:4) Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

(Proverbs 23:5) Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

When you make people pay for spiritual services, you paint God in very bad light; you paint Him as one who demands pay for what He has offered freely. Also, whenever people ‘pay’ for the healing, baby, deliverance, promotion, etc. they have received, it will erode their need to be grateful to God. If you go to a car shop and pay for a car, do you continue to thank them? If anything, you will feel that you are doing them a favour buying from them and not from another car shop.

Do you know that when people are cajoled to ‘pay’ for their miracle, the feel like God is either indebted to them or that there is no basis for Him to be appreciated. Moreover, it is those who freely receive a miraculous touch of God that will feel indebted to God and will easily give their lives to Christ. The one who has ‘paid’ might hardly give a thought about yielding his or her life to Christ.

In addition to this, some people are busy chasing after wealth like Gehazi. It is impossible to chase after two rats going in different directions. You can’t catch one of them, how much more the two. Jesus says you cannot serve God and mammon. In other words, the kind of devotion, love and commitment that is required serving God is also required when that fellow chooses to serve money.

However Proverbs 23:5 says unlike serving God, those who pursue money should prepare for disappointment because the wealth they are accumulating can suddenly develop wings and take its flight. If you ask some people what they are seeking after, they may be uncertain but not David. Unlike his son Solomon who sought several things at the same time, David sought one thing. In Psalm 27:4 he says,

“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.”

He pursued his focus and found Him. What are you seeking? What is uppermost in your heart today? Is it God or wealth?

Bible in one Year:
Psalm 106-108

Key Point
When God gives you true riches, the transcend you to future generations.
